The Love Calculator, rebuilt for phones

Type two names. Get a score that never changes, a tier with a story, and a share card worth sending. Same names, same score — forever.

Just for fun — a calculator can't measure a real relationship.

Three steps: type names, engine builds a signature, get score and card
Two names in, one honest (if unscientific) verdict out.

Same names, same score — the part the classics got wrong

Love calculators have been a fixture of the internet since the nineties, and the most famous one still runs the same formula it did when dial-up was normal. But refresh its result page and the randomness underneath shows. This rebuild fixes the one thing that matters for playing together: the score is a pure function of the two names. You and your partner can test from different phones, different cities, different years — the number agrees with itself every time.

Five score tiers from Written in the Stars to Beautiful Chaos
Five tiers, from dazzling to comedic — every score lands in exactly one.

Built to be shared, honest about being a game

Every result comes with a share card — a 1080×1350 image with the names, the score and the verdict, sized for stories and group chats. The card is drawn in your browser; the names never touch a server. And because a score without context is just a cold number, each tier ships with copy that knows what it is: a party game with good manners. For the deeper questions — like what actually predicts a lasting couple — the compatibility guide separates the fun from the research.

Start anywhere

New here? Type two names above and you're done in a second — or take a detour: score famous couples, see how the number is made, or learn what to send afterwards in the after-the-test guide. Every page works without an account, offline once loaded, and on any phone from the last decade.

What people use it for

The classics never die: testing a crush, settling whether the couple in the book series actually works, ranking the friendships in a group chat, or deciding — with the full authority of a modulo — which pair hosts Sunday dinner. Teachers borrow it for matching students on projects; streamers run it live with chat-suggested pairs; and every February the same question returns with a fresh screenshot attached. If a pair of names can be typed, this engine has an opinion about it.

Frequently asked questions

Is this love calculator free?

Completely free, no signup, no limits, no ads-as-obstacles. Every calculation runs in your browser.

Will the same two names always get the same score?

Yes — the engine is deterministic by design, so your result link works as a permanent keepsake.

Does anyone see the names I type?

No. The math happens on your device; recent tests are stored only in your own browser and you can clear them.

What's the highest score possible?

100 — but scores above 90 are rare by design. Most pairs land in the Promising middle band.

Can I use it for fictional characters or pets?

Absolutely. The engine doesn't distinguish Romeo from a golden retriever — both get a fair modulo.
